The SunMaid Association of Victoria fosters the SunMaid and SunBird classes of trailable yachts for the enjoyment of their owners.

The Association is supported by a volunteer committee and organises a range of sailing and non-sailing activities each year.

With SunMaid and SunBird trailable yachts located throughout Australia, ownership constantly changes as new generations of sailors discover the SunMaid 20 and SunBird 25. The Association provides a wealth of information on sailing and maintaining these yachts.

Our membership is made up of owners who have had their yacht since new to owners who have only just bought a SunMaid or SunBird and are still to get their yacht on the water for the first time. We also have a number of past owners who have maintained their membership and support of the Association.

What is a SunMaid 20?

The SunMaid 20 is a ballasted, trailable, swing centreboard yacht of medium displacement, designed to race competitively in JOG, Quarter Ton and trailable yacht events and also to provide safe, comfortable cruising for the entire family.

What is a SunBird 25?

The SunBird 25 is a ballasted, trailable, swing centreboard yacht of medium displacement, designed as a comfortable, safe cruising yacht and a competitive racing yacht in trailable events. More than a larger version of the SunMaid 20, it has full headroom and an inboard engine, together with refrigeration and other accommodation improvements.

What is a SunBird 25 Motor Sailer?

The original SunBird Motor Sailer is a ballasted, medium displacement yacht, designed for cruising under motor or sail. Fitted with a larger inboard engine, reduced sail area, wheel steering and no centreplate, it is a very comfortable, safe vessel for family outings. Now available only as a second-hand yacht, it has been replaced by a Mark ll version. Specifications for the Mark ll version are in the process of preparation.
